Getting Real

37 signals have opened up their "Getting Real" book for free online reading. I bought a PDF version when it first came out and really enjoyed their refreshing take on software development. In fact they played a substantial part in the original thinking behind setting up my own company. The site seems to be having some problems at the moment but I am sure that will be fixed soon. Considering that David Heinemeier Hansson (he of Ruby on Rails fame) works for 37 signals its surprising to see the website written in PHP. The book is also now available as a paperback.

Read the online version of "Getting Real".

"Getting Real starts with the interface, the real screens that people are going to use. It begins with what the customer actually experiences and builds backwards from there. This lets you get the interface right before you get the software wrong."

The above quote is from the introduction of the book.
