Google Developer Day
We went to the Google Developer Day in London on Tuesday. The highlight for me was the demo of a real life Android device. It looked great but I don't think it's as slick as the iPhone. However the fact that the OS will be completely open makes it *very* appealing. I was concerned that the network operators would lock certain OS components but this hypothesis was invalidated by the Android evangelist. It seems that by signing up to the Open Handset Alliance the network operators have agreed to keep the OS completely open, I guess the name gives it away. :) This means consumers can remove or modify the crap applications and annoying branding put on subsidised devices. Happy days!
