GSM Versus CDMA
Come on GSM!
There has been an increase of 73 million new CDMA (cdmaOne, CDMA2000 1X & 1XEV-DO) subscribers (reported by the CDMA Development Group). However, despite this, GSM still takes the lead globally.
Asia is currently accounts for more than 939 million GSM subscribers (against only 156 million CDMA subscribers) making it the biggest market worldwide.
Central Europe holds more than 363 million GSM subscribers with only 2 million CDMA subscribers (in June 2007). In parallel there are more than 11 million fixed lines for an average penetration rate of 32% and 72 million Internet users.
