I went to go see Mogwai at Somerset House last night. Awesome venue, awesome band, excellent night! Mogwai are masters of the whole quiet/loud thing... vacillating between gentle guitar arrangements and cacophonous feedback drenched squalls all the while maintaining subtle yet cohesive piano melodies (or flute melodies as is the case with my favourite track called "Mogwai Fear Satan").

I know post-rock, as a musical genre, isn't everyone's cup of tea but I'm a big fan. As a youngster I never really got into Slint's seminal Spiderland album when it first came out but it grew on me over time. I have seen most of the big post-rock bands but Explosions in the Sky unfortunately pulled out of ATP this year so I still haven't heard them live yet.
