Steve and I snuck out for a few hours yesterday afternoon to go watch a free gig by Beirut. The gig was meant to celebrate the re-opening of the "Appearing Rooms" fountain on the South Bank but the fountain was decidedly *not* functional yet. Beirut are a young band who play traditional/ethnic/Eastern European/gypsy type music (I'm not exactly sure which of these terms are best suited to describe them). It was a good Monday afternoon, especially when the sun decided to make a late afternoon rally against the rain and gloom.
