Where: GPS Enabled Java ME Widget Platform

Where looks like an interesting mobile service. I am assuming it's a Java ME application becuase the diverse list of Sprint devices they support would indicate that they are using something as ubiquitious as Java ME as the development environment (I stand to be corrected here).

At the moment it looks like the application only works on Sprint devices (many of which have the required GPS capabilities) but it is a good indication of what the future of location based services could be like.

The idea is simple, the consumer pays Where $2.99 a month and gets access to their entire GPS enabled widget library. They seem to have a good and easy to use API which allows 3rd party developers access to the runtime but there is no indication how 3rd party applications get rewarded for creating widgets.
