Future of the Mobile Web Browser
Andreas Constantinou from Vision Mobile has an interesting piece about mobile browsers. I certainly think we need some consolidation in this area as the sheer number of browsers makes building consistent mobile web applications very difficult indeed. How this process happens will be intriguing but I think the WebKit browser will get some significant traction now that Nokia and Apple have both included it in their mobile products.
I like the idea of device manufacturers and software vendors using a consistent underlying open source framework (e.g. WebKit) on which they build the unique features that differentiates their products/devices. This would allow them to be innovative while at the same time provide the developer community a consistent base on which to develop mobile internet applications.
