Paxmodept Java ME Graphical User Interface Library

Java ME GUI Library product page

We are pleased to announce the beta launch of our Java ME graphical user interface library. Most Java ME applications unfortunately look like they have been built by amateurs and it ruins the user experience. It is our belief that user interfaces should be simple yet beautiful and for this reason we have developed a custom low level graphical component library to help beautify Java ME applications. At the current time is has only been tested on a limited number of devices but we cover most new phones from the main manufacturers (Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola) and are constantly adding support for more.

If you would like to download and try the library please point your device browser at the below URL. Once our main mobile site has loaded please click on the "Java ME GUI Library" link at the top of the page. At this point we will profile your device to determine which version of the application we need to provision. You should see your device information presented to you on the download page. Once that has happened you can download the correct application version by clicking on the "Download Application" link at the bottom of the page.

Please be gentle as this is a beta release which has been tested on a limited number of phones. As yet we haven't added any significant support for Windows Mobile devices, Palm devices or Blackberry devices. We are also aware that it isn't the most provocative looking application but as developers we are hoping you will forgive us this minor foible. Working with a design team we can dress our components in almost any design you can imagine.

If you would like to provide feedback and have any questions please feel free to email me at jason@paxmodept.com. Happy downloading!

Update: Screenshots can be found here and here.

Kevin declares...

That's about the sweetest component library I've come across. Is it just a showcase, or do you plan to release it for other developers to use? If so, what kind of pricing/terms are you aiming for?

Same comments & question as Kevin.
Very promising. Will you distribute an evaluation kit? When?!!
Thanks.
